Erica Page Wilhelm, 61 of LaPlata, MD passed away at her home on March 19, 2016.
Erica was born in Delaware to Robert MacGregor and the late Barbara Johnson. Erica is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dr. Eric Wilhelm; sons, Dakota and Dalton Wilhelm; brothers, Thaddeus, Benji and Todd MacGregor; sisters, Erin and Julie MacGregor and Tamie Allen (Gary).
Erica had a joy for life. She was an avid equestrian and artist who spun wool and enjoyed painting. She also liked cooking, canning, gardening and spending time with her family and beloved dog, Roxy.
Erica had a strong independent streak as evidenced by her hitchhiking across the country when she was just 16 years old. She gained employment at Amdahl Corp, starting as a secretary; she retired as a senior contract analyst, dealing with all Fortune 500 companies. Erica also had a keen sense of style. Her favorite saying was “Rust Never Sleeps”, which exemplified her outdoor gardens. She instilled a sense of self-sufficiency in her two sons as they helped with canning foods, cooking, mending and fixing what was broken. A keen observer of nature, Erica was the consummate flower child raising goats, sheep, chickens and rabbits, all of which she used; the wool from the sheep and goats was taken, washed, carded, spun, dyed and finished as sweaters, scarves and gloves. Angora wool mixed with her boys’ first haircuts made gifts for grandparents. Erica left her world a better place and her two sons well prepared for life.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences to the family can be made at arehartechols.com.
