William "Bill" A. Maddox, Jr.

William “Bill” Maddox, Jr. 79 of LaPlata, MD passed away on March 15, 2024 at his home

Bill was born on April 20, 1944 in LaPlata, MD to the late William Maddox, Sr. and Jacqueline Maddox. He is also predeceased by his wife, Darlene Maddox and his daughter, Terrie Lynn Horstkamp.

Bill is survived by his son, William “Billy” Maddox, III (Margie); son-in-law, Nicholas Horstkamp; brother, Robert Maddox; sister, Margaret Mona; grandchildren, Brandie Mora and Nichole Horstkamp; great grandchildren, Logan Mora and Scarlette Du-Cote.

Bill is a retired First Sergeant in the United States Army. He was an avid musician playing all types of instruments but his favorite was Banjo and the Dobro. He enjoyed Old Country music and Bluegrass. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and riding horses and raising beagles.

The family will receive friends on Monday April 1, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM with a Funeral Service at 6PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). His interment will be on Tuesday April 2, 2024, 11:15 AM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery (11301 Crain Hwy. Cheltenham, MD 20623).
