Carl Wilbur Todd 80 of Pomfret, MD died on June 2, 2013.
He was born on October 25, 1932 in Washington, DC to the late Carl W. Todd and Norena Ennis. He is also predeceased by his son Dan Todd and his son-in-law Rick Calpin.
He is survived by his daughters Debby Todd, Tracy Calpin, grandchildren Cameron Calpin and Aidan Calpin.
Carl served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner for 4 years. He retired from the CIA as a Financial Analyst. He was a well respected and active Free Mason having served as an officer for 38 years of his 39 years as a Mason. He served as the Worshipful Master (1979 and 1993), Treasurer (5 years), Secretary (12 years) for Centennial Lodge #174 A.F. & A.M. in Upper Marlboro, MD. At the time of his death, he was the Deputy Grand Lecturer for the Grand Lodge of Maryland, after having served previously as the Grand Inspector and the Right Worshipful Junior Grand Warden. In 2008, he received the Warren E. Seipp award for outstanding service to Maryland Masonry. He loved gardening, riding his Harley, bird watching, fine arts, friends, family, his Masonic brothers, and a good meal. He was a voracious reader and loved history. He drove a school bus for school field trips and was a lifelong Redskins fan.
The family will receive friends on Monday June 17, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD where services will be held on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 12:30 PM. Interment to follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Calpin, David Ennis, Bob Robinson, Garland Bruce, Keith Vivian, and Bob Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Aidan Calpin and all Past Masters, Officers, and Members of Centennial Lodge # 174 A.F. & A. M
