Doris Charlotte McKeaver

Doris McKeaver of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 13, 1940 in Washington, DC. She is preceded in death by her father, William; mother, Lucille; brothers, James, William, Charles; and sister, Janet. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary; daughters, Katherine Jelinek (Michael) of Atlanta, GA, Karen O’Donnell of Richmond, VA, Kristine Arbogast (Steve) of Richmond, VA, Karol Selby (Donald) of California, MD; stepsons, Gary McKeaver, Jr. of Prince Frederick, MD and Gerald McKeaver of Lanham, MD. Doris was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She leaves behind three surviving siblings, Dennis, Robert, Ronald and many nieces and nephews.

Doris started her career on Capitol Hill at The US Senate from where she retired in the 1970’s. She then went on to become a successful realtor for over 25 years. In her later years, she and husband Gary enjoyed day trips, gardening, fishing, antiquing and of course, watching the Nats games.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nina Pettaway. Nina dedicated herself to Doris by providing loving care, comfort and companionship.

Please join us at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, PA (211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD) on August 3, 2018 from 1:30PM – 2:30PM for a Memorial Service. Burial immediately following at Trinity Memorial Gardens (3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Rd., Waldorf, MD).

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to The Humane Society of Charles County (PO Box 1015, Waldorf, MD 20604) would be greatly appreciated, as this was her favorite charitable organization.
