Gaynell Long

Gaynell B. Long, 82, of La Plata, MD passed away on July 21, 2018 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, MD.

Born in Premier, WV on January 17, 1936 to the late Fred Burton and the late Garnett Perkey, Gaynell is also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Long and her brother, Fred Burton II.  She leaves behind a son, Clifford F. Long; daughter-in-law, Melinda J. Long; daughter, Denise A. Burns; sister, Wanda J. Farthing; 2 grandchildren, Candaca Burns and Trinity Long; and 2 great-grandchildren, Vincent and Asher Zagami.

Prior to her retirement, Gaynell worked for Bishop McNamara High School. Gaynell enjoyed playing cards, doing word search puzzles, and shopping for shoes. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 5PM to 8PM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave., La Plata, MD).
