Harold Gardiner

J. Harold Gardiner, 76, of Faulkner, MD passed away on January 14, 2018 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Ctr. in LaPlata, MD.

Harold was born on March 25, 1941 to the late W. Ralph Gardiner and the late Mary Imogene Gardiner, He is also predeceased by his brother, Wayne; and sisters, Dorothy, Imogene and Betty Ann. Harold is survived by his former wives, Audrey Gardiner, mother of his children, and Rosemary Gardiner; sons, E. Neal Gardiner and R. Andrew Gardiner; daughter, Melissa Grant; brothers, Ralph, Gerald and Randy; sisters, Mary Jean, Linda, Kay and Janice; and nine grandchildren.

Harold was born and raised in Charles County.  He grew up working in his family’s business, Gardiner Outdoor Products, which dates back to 1946, eventually owning and operating the business with his brother and brother-in-law.  He liked John Deere 2-cylinder tractors and collected John Deere memorabilia.  Harold’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his goats.

Visitation will be held at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, PA (211 St. Mary’s Ave., LaPlata, MD) on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM, with Prayers and Rosary at 7PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4590 St. Joseph’s Way, Pomfret, MD) on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11AM;  Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.  A celebration of his life will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harold’s memory to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org or to American Diabetes Association at www.donations.diabetes.org.  Online condolences to the family can be left at arehartechols.com.
