Ruth Kans

Ruth Lagana Kans, 92, of Temple Hills, MD passed away on January 16, 2020. Born in Washington, DC on August 23, 1927 to the late Antonio and Angela Lagana, she is also predeceased by her husband, Soloman Kans; and son, Sol William “Billy” Kans (Ann); brothers, Leo, Joby, Daniel, Louie and Sammy Lagana; and sisters, Grace and Nancy Lagana. Ruth is survived by her son, Ronald H. “Ronnie” Kans (Edie); daughters, Barbara J. Gray (Frank) and Patricia A. Hopkins (Tom); brother, Frank “Icky’ Lagana; 10 grandchildren;19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Ruth was employed by Dixie Pig, and Sol’s Little Italy. She was a fantastic cook and loved feeding others. Food was her passion and family her greatest joy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 10AM to 11AM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave., LaPlata, MD); where a Funeral Service will begin at 11AM; a celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 12:00 noon, immediately following the service.  Her family & friends will gather for food and friendship at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (next door to Arehart-Echols) downstairs in the "Friendship Room". Interment will be held at MD Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be shared at arehartechols.com.
