Antonina Contreras Magpantay
May 10, 1937 - January 31, 2024
86 Years Old
Antonina C. Magpantay, a resident of Waldorf, Maryland and originally from Tanauan City, Batangas, Philippines, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 31, 2024 (age 86). Antonina was born on May 10, 1937 to the late Agapito and Simeona Contreras. She went to school and worked as a dental assistant in Tanauan City until age 55, when she joined her daughter, Nanette Lumban and family in Misawa Air Base, Japan in 1993. Since then, she had traveled around the U.S.A., Asia/Pacific, and Europe taking care of her children and grandchildren. Antonina had a passion for crocheting, cooking, and helping others. She was a devout Catholic who was loving, selfless, and kind to everyone she encountered. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, beautiful smile, gentle demeanor, and for being a virtuous woman who cared for and worked hard faithfully in meeting the needs of her own family.
Inay, as she was called by her family (means mother in Tagalog), imparted life lessons not through words alone, but mostly through her actions. She was a loving person not only to her family but to all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. In kindness, she showed us the path to compassion. She gave without expecting anything in return and loved without conditions. In her resilience, she demonstrated the virtue of strength in faith. And in her daily prayers, she instilled in us the power of a steadfast relationship with our Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Romeo Magpantay; three Children, Roehl (Noemi Magpantay), Orlando, and Nanette (Ben Lumban); seven Grandchildren, Bennett, Marielle, Nerissa (Calvin Lin), Sheena, Renzo, Benjamin, and Nina; three Great-Grandchildren Serena, Lorenzo, and Lorenz; and Sister (Iluminada).
Family and friends are invited to visit with Antonina’s family on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30 pm at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Avenue La Plata, MD, 20646.

May Antonina rest eternally in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
