Bertha Rebecca Gunter

Bertha Rebecca “Becky” Gunter 82, of Indian Head, MD passed away on Thursday January 27, 2022 in LaPlata, MD.

Becky was born on August 4, 1939 in Nelson County, VA to the late Cleveland and Evelyn Thacker. She is also predeceased by her husband, Dallas Gunter; brother, Cleveland Thacker, Jr.; sisters Joyce Marie Mays and Mary Frances Authur.

Becky is survived by her three daughters, Judy Rosinski (Philip), Lisa Groenwoldt (John) and Michele Wade (William); sister, Elizabeth Ann Curd. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She worked in Food Services at Lackey High School for over thirty years before retiring several years ago. She was happiest being with her family and friends.  She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her annual birthday trip to Tennessee with her late husband.  She was also known as the family photographer, always had a camera at the ready to document the lives of her family.  Becky loved gardening, cooking and attending country music concerts with her late husband.

The family will receive friends on Saturday February 5, 2022 from 10 AM until service time at 12 noon at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646. Interment to follow at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd. Waldorf, MD 20601).  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Becky’s memory to the American Lung Association.
