In Loving Memory of Diane Patrice Brown-Hancock
Surrounded by her loving family, Diane Patrice Brown-Hancock peacefully passed away on
February 25, 2024, in Bristow, VA. Diane was born on September 24, 1958 in Alexandria, VA.
She was the cherished daughter of Asa Brown and Virginia Brown. Although she was born in
Northern Virginia, she was a longtime resident of Williamsburg, Virginia and loved every aspect
of the area’s rich history.
In addition to being a widow of late John Hancock Jr., Diane was a loving mother to her three
sons, Philip, John, and Jesse, and her daughter, Kimberly. Family meant everything to her and
her love extended to her 11 grandchildren. She took pride everyday in being a mother and
grandmother.
A true lover of literature, Diane found solace in the works of James Patterson and Stephen King.
Her passion for reading enriched her life and left a lasting impression on those around her. In
addition to her love for books, Diane had a special affection for horses, finding joy and
connection in their graceful presence.
Diane enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, often exploring the aisles of Goodwills and thrift
stores in pursuit of hidden treasures. Her appreciation for the beauty in the ordinary endeared her
to those who knew her best.
Though she faced illness with grace, Diane’s spirit remained resilient. Her memory will forever
be etched in the hearts of her brothers, James, Doug, Peter, Jeff, and Martin, and her sister, Carol.
Diane’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and a zest for life that touched everyone fortunate
enough to have known her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
