Eugene Miles Bookwalter Jr., 75, of La Plata, MD, passed away on April 22nd, 2021 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.
Eugene, “Gene”, was born in Washington, DC to Anna Theresa Virginia Ramsey (deceased) and Eugene Miles Bookwalter Sr. (deceased).
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy Jean Bookwalter, son, Eugene Miles Bookwalter III, grandson, Codie Bookwalter, Brothers, Bruce Bookwalter, Junior Bookwalter, Bobby Bookwalter, and Sister, Joyce Bookwalter.
He is survived by his sister: Bonnie Walling (David), and his four children: Sherrie Davis (Eddie), Billy Bookwalter, Christopher Bookwalter Sr. (Sherri) and Jenny Oliver (Mike); along with 10 grandchildren: Eugene Bookwalter IV, Tyler Griffith, Denard Hartwell Jr., Christopher Bookwalter Jr., Colin Davis, Chase Bookwalter, Matthew Davis, Bianca Bookwalter, Syana Bookwalter, Miley Bookwalter; and 3 great-grandchildren: Trae Hartwell, Paislee Bookwalter and Dakota Griffith.
Gene grew up in Accokeek, MD and attended Accokeek Elementary school. He graduated from Gwynn Park Junior Senior Highschool and married the love of his life after graduation in 1965. He was a carpenter by trade. He loved spending time with his family taking them hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling and teaching them his carpentry skills. He loved cookouts with his family and friends. He enjoyed sharing stories from his youth with everyone. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was one of a kind.
