George Wilmer (Jr.) Yorty

George Wilmer Yorty, Jr., 89, of LaPlata, MD passed away on April 14, 2021 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pennsylvania to the late George W. Yorty, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Yorty, he is also predeceased by his brothers, Ronnie Yorty and Richard Yorty.  George leaves behind his living wife of 60 years, Helen Yorty; sons, George Stanley Yorty and Michael Alan Yorty; daughter, Debra Ann Stozier; sister Beverley Lasko; and grandchildren, Katherine, Hanah and Austin Stozier.

George retired from the U.S. Dept. of the Navy and is a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean War.  An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing golf and coaching little league baseball.  George also loved to read.  His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he loved with all of his heart.
