Gloria Caroline Miller 82 of LaPlata, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024, at her home. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Born on January 28, 1942, in English, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Viars Kibbey.
After graduating from high school, in 1960 she moved to Washington DC to work for the federal government. Shortly after moving she met her husband David Miller at National Church of God, Washington DC, where they attended church together and served in various ministries. They were married August 31, 1968. Gloria and Dave went on to have three children, Amy, Mark, and Phillip.
Gloria spent her life dedicating it to the Lord by serving her family, friends, and neighbors. In addition to being a wonderful wife and homemaker she served in the Women’s Aglow ministry for more than 30 years fulfilling many positions including Maryland South Area Team Administration Secretary, Waldorf President, and Treasurer and was also an accomplished speaker. She also held many bible studies, meetings, and prayer groups in her home. She was a member of Living Word Community Church, Mechanicsville, MD. In addition to her parent’s, she is preceded in death by her siblings Franklin Kibbey, Donald Kibbey, Johnny Kibbey, Larry Kibbey, Vicki Murphy, and granddaughter Analise Noel Miller.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Ronald Miller, daughter Amy Lynn (Kevin), sons Mark David (Natasha) and Phillip Ray (Amanda) and grandchildren Gabriel Jewell, Rachel Jewell, Samuel Jewell, Michael Jewell, Sofia Miller, Keira Miller, and Brynlee Miller.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 11am to 1pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:30pm, at the First Baptist Church of LaPlata, LaPlata, MD.
A private interment will take place at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Craine Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
