With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the peaceful passing of Harvey Emile Gagne Jr., who left us while resting in his favorite chair at home on May 31, 2026.

Born September 25, 1935, in the charming town of Waterville, Maine, Harvey was the beloved son of Harvey Sr. and Blanche Gagne. He lived a life enriched by love, learning, and an unyielding curiosity about the world around him.

Harvey's journey began in a home that valued education and exploration. He graduated from St. John’s High school for boys in 1956 before embarking on a transformative academic journey at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Services. Earning his degree in 1960, Harvey set the foundation for a career defined by cultural engagement and international cooperation.

In April 1960, Harvey married the love of his life, Julia Anne McCormick, embarking on a partnership that lasted decades filled with love, laughter and shared dreams. Their marriage was a testament to devotion and companionship, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Professionally, Harvey's career was as varied as it was distinguished. He began working with Air India and Air France as a liaison for National Geographic, where his passion for travel and culture found a perfect outlet.

Later, Harvey dedicated 29 years of service to Bristol Myers, excelling as a district and regional manager. In the latter years of his career, he continued to contribute as a sales representative for various medical supply companies, always driven by a desire to make a difference in the world.

Harvey's personal interests were as diverse and rich as his professional endeavors. A lover of opera, theater and astrology, his joy was found in the arts and the stars. His extensive knowledge of history, science, and Egyptian culture was a treasure trove he eagerly shared with friends and family. Known for his unique character and cultural knowledge, Harvey was the creator of personalized horoscopes, delighting all those around him with his insights and predictions.

His legacy is carried on by his two sons, Stephen and Matthew, their wives Pamela and Elizabeth, and his cherished granddaughter, Jensyn Gagne, who was the light of his later years. He was preceded death by his beloved wife, Julia, his parents and his sisters Helene Lavigueur and Genevieve Dussalt.

Harvey's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the memories and stories shared by those he loved.

A service to honor and celebrate Harvey's life will be held on July 6, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in LaPlata, Maryland. Visitation with family and friends at 9am will be followed by a Holy Catholic Mass at 10am. Friends and family are invited to join us in the church hall for a reception to honor his memory, a life well lived and well loved. An internment will be held later in his hometown of Waterville, Maine at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
