JAMES MARSHALL KING

JUNE 8, 1957 ~ JANUARY 11, 2025

James Marshall King of Indian Head, MD, passed away on January 11, 2025, at the Hospice House of the Chesapeake after an eight-month battle with cancer at the age of 67.

Jimmy was born in Washington, DC, on June 8, 1957, to the late Walter Edward and June Alma King.  An only child, Jimmy was the apple of his parents’ eye and in their later years was always the son they could count on.

Jimmy worked in the construction/management field for most of his life and loved to tinker and fix things.

Jimmy is survived by his wife and devoted friend, Tammy King; son, James King; daughter, Kelly Peace (Anthony); grandchildren, Lauren, Xavier, Kierra and Marcus Chisley; James, Aaron and Camden King. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

Jimmy was a simple man who loved his family. He was a devoted father and absolutely loved nothing more than being a grandfather.  There was always a twinkle in his eye when he talked about his grandchildren.

Jimmy’s other favorite thing in life was the need for speed.  As his love for the fast lane evolved, he purchased various motorcycles and race cars and loved to go to the track and test drive them.  Some he just loved to look at!  He was an avid NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhart being his favorite driver, and often spent weekends watching races on television.

After becoming ill, Jimmy was determined to stay one step ahead of his cancer, braving many months of painful treatments. However, on January 11, 2025, Jimmy took the checkered flag at the finish line one last time to find his eternal peace. May he forever be at rest.

Words cannot express the genuine appreciation and gratitude we have for the village of medical professionals that helped Jimmy during his brave fight, especially those at the Hospice House of the Chesapeake. The compassion, thoughtfulness and devoted care they showed to Jimmy, and his family was a true blessing.
