Jeanette McNeil Burnham, age 69, of Cobb Island, Maryland, was called home to our lord on February 11, 2025, at Um Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. Jeanette was born on April 15, 1955, in Washington, DC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Sowell.
Jeanette worked in the dental field her entire life. She retired as an orthodontist assistant for Drs. DiLorenzo & Hrechka, P.A. She was known for her hard work ethic, honest approach and friendly demeanor, which earned her the trust and respect of many.
Jeanette’s passion for animals led her to volunteer her time with Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland, while raising her family. Later in life she volunteered at the Waldorf Elks Lodge #2421, she enjoyed her time at the lodge serving meals, cleaning, and working the many events that the lodge sponsored. When she wasn’t volunteering at the lodge, you would often find her mingling with members, attending regular members meetings and playing in the video bowling league. Jeanette also took pleasure in gardening, camping, cooking, and collecting dolls.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband Micheal Clay Burnham.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Williams and son James Troy Williams (Samantha); her grandchildren Michael, Corey, Ashley, Cruz and Zane; and her brother Ernest Sowell Jr. (Ernie B).
Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
