In Loving Memory of Jefferson Wills Posey
September 3, 1960 – December 8, 2025
Jefferson Wills Posey (Jeff), age 65, passed away at his residence on December 8,
2025. Born on September 3, 1960, in La Plata, Maryland, Jeff was the son of Francis
Wills (Sonny) Posey III and Margaret (Peggy) Jameson Posey Stone.
A lifelong resident of Charles County, Jeff graduated from La Plata High School and
Charles County Community College. He worked in the family business, Posey’s
Hardware, until its closing, and later applied his many talents in engine repair, home
building, maintenance engineering, and project management for government
contractors.
Jeff was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend, a true
pillar of strength and kindness. His life was defined by his love for family and
community. He had a gift for making everyone feel cared for, always ensuring his loved
ones were safe and cherished. His hugs were legendary, his laughter contagious, and
his famous shrimp dip, a staple at every family gathering.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, fishing along the Chesapeake Bay, feasting
on crabs, and enjoying oysters when the month ended in “R.” Jeff was fascinated by
space and the mysteries of the universe, dreaming of the stars while appreciating the
beauty of his home on Earth.
Jeff is survived by his two beloved sons, the pride and joy of his life, Alexander Francis
Posey and his wife Barbara, and granddaughter Georgia Louise Posey; and Nicholas
Robert Posey and his wife Khadija. He is also survived by his sister Julie Shontere (Joe)
and brother Bernard Posey (Vicki) and brother-in-law Frederick Davis. Jeff will also be
greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth (Beth)
Posey Davis, stepfather William Michael Stone and niece, Angela Houtz.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, 201 St. Mary’s Ave, La Plata, MD. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by
Mass at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Those wishing to honor Jeff in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the
Chesapeake Bay Foundation or a favorite charity.
Jeff’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and care, a reminder to cherish family, embrace
community, and savor life’s simple joys. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
