John Joseph Brennan

John Joseph (J.J.) Brennan, 72, of Waldorf, MD passed on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Cathy Brennan, daughter Tracey (Jay) Beckert, and son John (Cassie) Brennan. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Madison Springer, Riley Brennan, Brennan Springer, and Reese Brennan.

Born on July 13, 1951, in Edwardsville, PA, to the late John and Jennie Brennan. J.J. was a 1969 graduate of Westside Tech High School. After graduating, he proudly joined the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. where he served for 44 years. He joined the department in 1971 and was assigned to the Seventh District where he worked within the community for nine years. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1980 to the Second District before joining the Morals Division where he played a leading role in narcotics intervention throughout the District of Columbia. J.J.’s greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, antiquing with his wife, his dog Charlie, and the holidays. He was generous, loved for others to be happy, and valued time spent with family and friends.

Friends are invited to celebrate J.J. 's life at St. Peter’s Church, 3320 St. Peter’s Church Dr., Waldorf, MD on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 9 am until his funeral service begins at 10 am. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
