John Sherrick Obituary

John Sherrick, 80, of Waldorf, MD passed away on April 20, 2020 at the Charleston Senior Community in Waldorf, MD.

John was born in Bangor, Michigan on August 6, 1939, the son of the late John Sherrick and Virginia Sherrick.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Valintine.  John is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughters, Margaret “Annie” Sherrick, Jennifer Fielding, Gwen Salinas and Cathy Pollard; step son's, Gary and Terry Hicks; step daughter, Jeri Main; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sue Daniel, Heather Renee Smith, Shawn McEvoy Crowell, Jr., Ella and Natalie Fielding, Megan and Anthony Salinas, Cara and Jared Higgs; great grandchildren, Kristen Sue Daniel, Tucker Aiden Smith, Rocky Deshaun Daniel, Rylan Wayne Smith, Rose Rashal Crowell; great great grandchild, Everette Asher Long.

John was employed by Magnivox, ECAC – Electromagnetic Compatibility Analysis Center, IITRI. He worked on two Space Shuttle Missions, wrote the Tech Manual for the United States Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Systems key Console. He sold Doppler Weather Satellite Dishes all over the world. He helped design the speaker system on the Apache Helicopter and Military Speed Boats and also trouble shot communications for many military war games here in the states. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Annapolis, MD and Ft. Ashby, WV serving as a council member and bass in church choir. He is a wonderful husband, father and made a huge impact on many that will never know his contribution to the Cold War, Space Exploration, Military, and Weather Safety. We will miss his faith, smile, laughter, fishing with him and his strength.
