Krystle Mercedes Cook was born on October 4, 1990 at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY to Christopher Cook and Teresa Randolph-Ennis.
Krystle was raised in South Floral Park, Long Island by her mother Teresa and stepfather Dwayne Ennis. She began her high school years at Sewanhka Central High School.
After the family moved to Waldorf, MD in 2006, she then attended West Lake High School, where she graduated in June 2009.
While deciding what career path she would take, she worked at few jobs throughout the years, but it was not until she started working at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, where her passion for helping others grew. After one of the many conversations that she had with her stepfather, she then decided that she would direct her focus on becoming Registered Nurse, just like him. She was accepted to the College of Southern Maryland, where she was to begin their Nursing Program this fall.
If you were to look in the dictionary to understand what a true New Yorker is, you would find Krystle’s picture. Krystle loved everything about New York, including her New York Giants. She was sassy, beyond hilarious, and a diligent hard worker. She was also very talented. She loved to draw and like other family members, had a strong love for animals. Her favorite of them all where dolphins and killer wales. When we would talk about what we look forward to in the new world, she would say she would want to live by the ocean to be closest to the animals she loved most. But most of all Krystle loved her family. She was her mother’s “mini-me,” her sisters’ protector, the heart of her Aunties, and the favorite to her cousins. She was strong and intelligent, independent, and strong-willed. Simply put, Krystle was about handling her business. She placed a high value on her friendships.
Trust and loyalty were traits she was taught to value. So, if she considered you a friend, you were more than that to her. You were now family. Krystle brought such joy to all the lives she touched. She will be remembered as that fun loving, sassy, quick witted, lovable, native New Yorker. Known to all as New York’s finest.
Krystle leaves to cherish her memory; her father, Christopher Cook; mother Teresa Randolph-Ennis; stepfather, Dwayne Ennis; sisters Aisha Young, Kylee and Nyla Ennis, LaKrista Cook; aunts, Charlene Randolph-Sherry, Angela Randolph, Janine Garrison; uncles, Kenny Randolph (Phyliss), Allan Randolph (Leslie), Mark Albanese (Tara); William Cook, Tyrone Cook; Cousins Alex (AJ) Charles, Cayla Charles, Chase Randolph, Dash Randolph, Luna Randolph, MéLisa Best, Tiffany Cook; Grandmothers, Patricia Smith, Nanna Eunice Ennis, Alice Cook; and slew of extended aunties and uncles, along with a host of cousins and very close friends to whom were considered family.
Krystle is preceded in death by her cousin Eric Valle-Garrison and Great Grandmother, Ellesse Pearl Gray.
