Leticia Garcia

Leticia M. Garcia, 85 of La Plata, MD passed away at Hospice of the Chesapeake on September 10, 2023.

Born in the Philippines on December 4, 1937, daughter of the late Emilio and Josefa Macalintal, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Ignacio ("Asiong") Garcia, daughter Leila Garcia, and sisters Lilia M. DeLaPaz and Rosie M. Tulabut.

She became the happily wedded wife of Dr. Ignacio Garcia after a beautiful three-month courtship. They had lost hope in their ability to have children until they conceived Leila, who Mrs. Garcia considered her "miracle child." Some of her best memories were of traveling through Europe as a family.

"Tita Letty" to many, she was a loving and generous aunt. She brought her sister Nora and her family to the country and hosted Thanksgivings and Christmases that were always warm and joyful and brought the family together. She made the best ensaymadas.

Tita Letty rests in peace now with the souls of Uncle Asiong and Leila, who she loved so much and missed dearly in her later years. She is survived by her sister Nora M. Samson, several nieces and nephews, Linda Ritch, and so many others whose lives she touched.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 22, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Church (201 St. Mary’s Ave. La Plata, MD 20646) at 10 Am. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carmel of Port Tobacco (a favorite of Leticia Garcia) or her parish church - Sacred Heart or offer a mass in her honor at your church.
