Linda Stanford Cox, age 84, of La Plata, MD, passed away on March 22, 2025.
Born on October 23, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, Linda led a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to her family. While working at the FBI, she met her husband, John Cox, and together they shared 23 years of marriage and remained close throughout their lives. They were blessed with three wonderful children, whom she cherished deeply.
A devoted mother, Linda was actively involved in her children’s education, volunteering with the PTA to support their schools and community. As her children grew older, she continued her dedication to helping others by working as a nurse’s aide in Prince George’s County Public Schools, where she provided care and comfort to students.
In addition to her work in education, Linda had a career in the hotel industry, working in Tennessee and Florida, where she was known for her warm hospitality and kindness.
A proud Washington Redskins fan, she loved cheering on her team every season. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, especially with her grandsons. Linda was well known for her delicious potato salad, macaroni salad, and homemade banana and zucchini bread.
Linda is survived by her children, Victoria Nalley of Port Tobacco, MD, Kathleen Taylor (Mike) of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Elizabeth Cox of Salem, VA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Branden Taylor, Ryan Nalley, Chase Nalley, and Andrew Cox, as well as her former husband, John Cox of Cheltenham, MD, and many dear family members and friends. She will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata, MD, 20646 from 9 AM until service time at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.
