Marian Rebecca Coombs Winkler
Becky Winkler passed away on 1/21/21 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata MD from complications due to Covid. She was 77.
Becky was #11 of 12 children, born on November 20, 1943, in Pomfret, MD to Joseph Edward and Marion Elizabeth Coombs. Becky is survived by her son, Brian (Sherry) Winkler of La Plata, MD, daughter Kacy (Eric) Cavalier of Port Tobacco, MD, and 4 grandchildren: Lauren Winkler, La Plata, Thomas Linthurst, Salisbury, MD; and Chase and Rylee Cavalier, Port Tobacco, MD, and one great grandson, William Linthurst.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Chester, Jimmy, Everett, Howard and Glenn Coombs, and four sisters: Frances Austin, Emily McKenzie, Bernice Pickeral, and Ruth Tormey. She leaves behind brother Reggie and sister Rachel Adams Cutlip, along with many nieces and nephews.
Becky graduated from La Plata High School in 1961 and was employed by the Federal Government until her retirement in 1999. She is a devout Catholic who enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Viewing will be held at St. Joseph's Parish Center on Thursday, February 4 from 2-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD on Friday, February 5 at 11:00am. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
