On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Mary Annabelle Hayden went to her eternal rest at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Waldorf, Maryland. She was born in Rock Point, Maryland, February 8, 1935, to the late Henry Nicholas Stine, Sr. and Laura Annie Norris. She married Robert “Sonny” Hayden, Jr. at the age of sixteen in 1951and shared their life with their eight children until his death in 1975. Following that unexpected tragedy. she raised those children, aged six to twenty-one with love, compassion and with the help of her parents and her oldest son, Robert, who became the man of the house and helped support his younger siblings.

Annabelle began working for Norris Seafood shucking and packing oysters and picking crabs to earn extra income and continued to do that until an accident and a broken back, made it too difficult.

In 2002, she joined the Cobb Island Vol. Fire Department & EMS Auxiliary and was a life member of that organization. Her desire to help others never lost momentum. She served for 24 years with a commitment to her community and to the fire department.

Annabelle was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church where she raised all her children to have a strong faith, a faith that never wavered whether she could attend services in person or watch them on television.

She was a devoted mother to her children, three of whom she had to see pass before her. Her family brought her much joy as she watched them grow and move into their own lives. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them.

Annabelle is survived by her loving companion of fifty-years, James Howard Boarman. His devotion to her, especially in her later years, was a loving display of their bond. Also left behind to mourn her are children; Rita Spach (Stephen), Cindy Pilkerton (Larry), Joseph Hayden (Linda), Jeanie Bradshaw (Dennis), Tammy King (John Vivas), Johnny Boarman (Sherri); daughter-in-law, Pamela Hayden; Seventeen grandchildren; Thirty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Sisters in Law – Carolyn Stine and Patti Stine.

Besides her husband Sonny, waiting for her to join them with open arms are her parents - Henry & Laura Stine; brothers - Skeeter, George and Timothy Stine; Sons - Robert and Tony Hayden; Daughter - Lou Ann Hoard; Granddaughter - Kimberly Kragh; Great-Granddaughters - Avalyn Pilkerton and Ayriona Janzegers.
