Mary Helen Turner, 84 of Newburg, MD, passed away on her beloved farm on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Helen enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and spending time with her family and animals. She was a devoted farmer, homemaker, and caregiver who left a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering kindness.
She was born on October 30, 1940, in Wayside, MD, to the late George and Mary Lucretia Goldsmith. Helen is also preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Turner, Sr., brothers Clarence, George, Francis, and Townley, and sisters Shirley and Louise.
She is survived by her children, Mary Long (Ronnie) and Kenneth A. Turner, Jr. (Karen); her four grandchildren, Jessica (Jason), Jennifer (JD), Connie (Kristina), and DJ (Ciera); and five great-grandchildren—Cody, Brayden, Nicholas, Addison, and Danny—each a living reminder of her nurturing spirit and the enduring impact of her love.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 9 to 11 AM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave., LaPlata, MD 20646). Her Funeral Service will be at noon at the Christ Church – Wayside (13050 Rock Point Rd., Newburg, MD 20664). Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Daniel Benfield, Sr., George A. Goldsmith, Patrick Goldsmith, Marty Rison, Jason Suiter, and Benjamin Turner. Honorary Pallbearers include Cody Garner, Brayden Suiter, Nicholas Garner, and Daniel Benfield, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Charles County (71 Industrial Park Dr., Waldorf, MD 20602).
