Mary Marguerite Edwards

Mary Marguerite Edwards aged 96, passed away on Dec 28,2023 at Morningside Assisted Living in Waldorf, MD. She was the daughter of the late Jarrett W. Rice and Olive Mae Bowie Rice, born on May 20,1927 in Newport, Maryland. She is survived by her Sister-in-Law, Carol Ann Rice of Newport. She is predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Higdon Edwards, her sisters, Jean R. Swann, Grace A. Franklin and brothers, Jarrett Leonard Rice and Harry E. Rice. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews; she was very fond of them all.

Mrs. Edward was educated in the public schools of Charles County. For many years she taught school at Glasva Elementary School and then at Archbishop Neale School in La Plata. She enjoyed teaching the lower grades and was very fond of her little students.

She married Jack Edwards, May 10, 1953 at Holy Ghost Church in Issue, MD. Together, they lived on the family farm on Banks O’Dee Road in Charles County. She enjoyed crocheting, raising beautiful potted flowers, sewing and others crafts.

Viewing will be held on January 10th at Holy Ghost Church starting at 10 o’clock, followed by mass at 11 o’clock, interment will be at Holy Ghost Church Cemetery in Issue, MD.

Pallbearers will be William “Jeff” Rawlings, Brian Rawlings, Charles “Bob” Rice, Jesse Swann, Chris Swann and Michael Swann. Honorary Pallbearers are William O.Rawlings and Harry S. Edwards.
