Michael "Mike" Fox Obituary

Michael “Mike” E. Fox 86 of LaPlata, MD passed away on Thursday May 1, 2025 at his home in LaPlata, MD.

Mike was born on August 28, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late Walter and Grace Fox. He is also predeceased by his brothers; Eldred Fox, Walter Fox and Clifford Fox; sisters, Patricia Lusk and Mary Fox.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sheryl Fox; sons, Raymond Fox and Alvin Fox (Anna); daughter; Amy Posey (Jason); grandchildren, Noah Posey and Samuel Posey; brother, Robert Fox; sister, Shirley Moore.

Mike served in the United States Air Force. He also worked as a police officer for the Maryland National Capital Planning Commission in Prince George’s County.  He worked tirelessly to establish Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 30 becoming a charter member. After retiring he worked for the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in Pennsylvania.

He enjoyed working with his scroll saw and made many plaques, puzzle games for kids, holiday decorations just to name a few. He enjoyed time with his family especially his grand sons. He always liked to keep busy whether socializing with old friends or ones he just made.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 7, 2025 from 12 to 2 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). Interment will be at a later date at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery (11301 Crain Hwy. Cheltenham MD 20623).

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the American Cancer Society.
