Neal O. Virts

Neal O. Virts 83 of Nanjemoy, MD passed away on April 6, 2022 in Washington, DC.

Neal was born on February 19, 1939 in Washington, DC to the late William and Clara Virts. He is also predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Neal is survived by his wife, Joyce Kendall; son, Neal “Binky” Virts; daughters, Judy Ann Frederick, Jane Evelyn Scanlan, Randi Elizabeth Winters and Heidi Harden; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Neal spent his career as a Carpet Installer who had great skill in his trade. He installed carpet at the White House under three different Presidencies. He also helped build the Ritchie Fire House. He played guitar and sang country and blue grass music. He was also known for being able to fix anything. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, hover boarding, hunting, wood working, watching the deer and was most proud of his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 4 to 7PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). His funeral service will be on Thursday April 21, 2022 at 2 PM at the Old Durham Church (8700 Ironsides Rd. Nanjemoy, MD 20662) Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
