Nicholas Hurysh, Sr.

Nicholas Hurysh, Sr. 88 of Hughesville, MD passed away on August 26, 2021 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Nick was born on April 10, 1933 in Plymouth, PA to the late Clement and Frances Hurysh. Nick is survived by his son Nicholas Hurysh, Jr. Dana Gillum and several nieces and nephews. Nick proudly served in the United States Army and retired from PEPCO after working for 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an usher at the Basilica. Nick is a master Gardener and loved going to the gym. In his later years he became very active volunteering at the Maryland Veterans Museum. The family will receive on Friday September 10, 2021 at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646) from 5 to 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday September 11, 2021 at the St. Mary’s Church (13715 Notre Dame Pl. Bryantown, MD 20617). Interment to follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Maryland Veterans Museum (11000 Crain Hwy. Newburg, MD 20664 or the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home (29449 Charlotte Hall Rd. Charlotte Hall, MD 20622).
