Philip Hayden 88 of LaPlata, MD passed away on September 18, 2023.
Philip was born on July 29, 1935 in Tompkinsville, MD to the late Webster Hayden, Sr. and Mattie Hayden. He is also predeceased by his wife, Anna Mae Hayden; grandson Noah Nelson; son-in law, Dave Viars; brothers, Joseph Hayden, Wilson Hayden, John Hayden, Webster Hayden, Jr. and Francis Hayden; sister, Margaret Fauquer.
He is survived by his daughters Trish Nelson (Randy) and Phyllis Viars; grandson, Daniel Nelson; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hiortdahl. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
Philip served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He worked as a wood crafter at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for 35 years. After retiring from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital he went to work at the Charles County Community College as a General Maintenance Mechanic from 1989 to 2001. Philip enjoyed Blue Grass music and festivals, bingo and dancing and was a former member of the Ford Auto Club.
The family will receive friends on Thursday September 28, 2023 from 9 Am until Mass time at 10 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (201 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hayden, Stephen Hayden, Webster Peter Hayden, John Hiortdahl, Thomas Swazuk , Thomas Zinn, Daniel Nelson and Loui Ibarra.
