R. Irene Pilkerton

Ruth Irene Pilkerton 95 of White Plains, MD passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2022 in Waldorf, MD.

Irene was born February 16, 1927 in Newburg, MD to the late Quincy and Ruth Swann. She is also predeceased by her husband, John Philip Pilkerton; brothers, Vernon Swann and Walter Swann; sisters, Delree Gamble, Eleanor Grimm and Jenny Hill.

Irene is survived by her brother, Thomas Swann and her sister, Hazel Oliff. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Irene is a member of the Christ Church, Wayside and a member of the Woman’s Guild. She also loved playing cards and listening to country music.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11 AM at the Christ Church Wayside (13050 Rock Point Rd. Newburg, MD 20664). Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
