Obituary of Robert Eugene Ringler, 4/15/1944 - 5/22/2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Eugene Ringler, 81, of White Plains, MD, who passed away surrounded by his family on May 22, 2025.  A devoted husband, a courageous Air Force veteran, and a dedicated firefighter, he lived a life marked by service, bravery, and unwavering commitment to his family, community, and country.

A native of Cumberland, Maryland, Bob was born on April 15, 1944 to the late Eugene and Berneice Ringler. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Christy Johnson of Florida, and sister, Sandy Leichliter of Cumberland.

Bob served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1964-1967. This time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and service, which he carried throughout his life.

Following his honorable discharge, Bob continued his dedication to public service by joining the Baltimore City Fire Department. For 21 years he bravely protected his community, preserving countless lives and property with exceptional courage.

Beyond his distinguished careers, Bob was a masterful conversationalist and found tremendous joy in engaging with neighbors and friends on a wide variety of topics. Bob was known for his comfort food cooking, and his tasty treats will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob and Judy spent many years traveling in their decked out RV, with a canine companion always alongside for the ride.

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 82, and the Baltimore City Firefighters Local 734.

Bob was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Judith Ann Ringler; daughters, Pamela Stone and Melanie Berger; son, James Eric Johnson; sisters, Carol Dougher and Judith Stecyk; grandchildren, Chance Adam Benedict, Jr., Madison Stone, Joshua Berger, Julia Berger, Sophia Stone, and Sophia Berger.

The loyalty and dedication Bob exhibited for his wife left all with a role model to strive toward. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. LaPlata, MD 20646). His interment will be at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
