Rose Mathews

Rose Angela Mathews, 93 of Indian Head, MD passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at her home.

She was born on December 19, 1931 in Washington, D.C. to the late Thomas Adrian and Rosabelle Inscoe Garner. She is also predeceased by her husband Jim Mathews; brothers, Bernard, Russell, Wilson, Tom, Raymond and George; sisters, Naomi Clark, Irene Edwards, Georgetta Thir, Gladys Buckler, Ruth Creighton, Betty Dull, Margaret Wedding, Marian Coombs, Lillian Garner and Barbara Miedzinski; and stepdaughter Mary Ann Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Mathews and June Gregory; son Wayne Wedding (Lucy); stepdaughter Helen Carter; grandchildren Vicki Daniels (Randy) and Stephen Gregory (Candy); great grandchildren, Heather Daniels and James Gregory; sister, Ethel Manley and many nieces and nephews.

She worked for Charles County Public Schools as a Food Service Worker. She loved her cat “Baby,” playing bingo, doing word puzzles, reading and watching Texas Walker. You could also find her out in her yard riding her lawn mower and working in her flower beds.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to service time at 11:30 AM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary’s Ave. La Plata, MD 20646). Interment to follow at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd. Waldorf, MD 20601).
